Watercolour on paper, 2024.
I live in Kuwait, a country situated between the sea and the desert. It was a resting place for bedouins, seafarers, poets and migratory birds. I believe choosing to live in this place affects our sense of time, our perception and reasoning capacity. My interdisciplinary practice involves sewing etymological and mythological narratives through writing, film, performance and book arts. The transient state of my environment urges me to narrate and document where I stand from my immediate surroundings: my room, family, familiar faces and landscapes. Unable to attain the fleeting present, I try to collect cocoons I deem to hold in the future.
